Chromatch is a tool for building a LUT based on a set of source and target data points. Data points can be extracted from footage using Color Chart Extractor, or compiled manually.
Chromatch builds a mathematical model based on a set of data points that correspond between two camera systems. With enough data, the model is able to predict color matches by looking at similar colors in the data set and interpolating them.
Chromatch is a standalone web app. This allows you to easily run the tool without needing to install anything. While the app is web-based, all of the computation happens on your device. This means that processing is quick, and you don't need to upload any data.
The tool requires an input and an output dataset. The input dataset should be from the camera you want to match from, and the output dataset should be from the camera you want to match to.
Put another way - if you had a project using an Arri Alexa as the primary camera, and a RED Komodo as a 2nd camera for inserts, you would collect an input dataset from the Komodo, and an output dataset from the Alexa. The resulting LUT would then be applied to the Komodo footage, in order to match it to the Arri footage.
You can change the LUT size in order to build a higher quality LUT. Bigger LUTs will take longer to process.
